The man holding the wallet is a kind man who has gone out of his way to pick up a wallet, dropped by the other man, and return it to him. The first man believes the man with the wallet has stolen it from him based on how this man looks. He is tall and well built, unshaven and scruffily dressed. The first man has aligned his beliefs about thieves and the way they dress with the look of this man and this initial judgement makes him afraid of the man and he doesn’t trust him.
